Weekends in Wine Country: Livermore

This weekend my family and I had the opportunity to go back to the Livermore wine country since we were attending an early Christmas party at my Aunt’s house. Livermore is about 1 hour east of San Francisco. While the region is an up and coming wine country, the drive close to the vines with rolling hills as a backdrop would make one think they are in Napa or Sonoma.

Weekends in Wine Country

One of my fondest family memories growing up was when my parents took our whole family for Sunday drives followed by an Italian dinner around 2 pm (and then we ate leftovers again around 8!) Yes, my Mom was an excellent cook.

Now that I have a family, my wife and I decided that our 'Sunday drives' (with our little boy) would be spent in Northern California wine country since we live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We go for a day nearly every weekend we are in town.

The Slow Road to Healdsburg, CA

This Sunday we decided we were going to take the ‘slow road to Healdsburg’. We started on our usual route, 101 North to 37 to 121. We stopped at Viansa Winery & Italian Marketplace because my wife wanted to pick up some of her favorite mustards and sauces. She noted that Viansa has now added other companies’ products. We think Viansa, while not widely known for their wines, has a great marketplace and outdoor eating area that also is family friendly.
